Interview with Bono
I love to travel!! Yes, there are not-so-fun moments of travel when you are delayed for your flight, the airline loses your bags or you get hopelessly lost in a place where English isn’t the primary language. Hopefully not all in the one trip.
Aside from these roadblocks that we occasionally find in our way, there is so many positives to travelling. Not only is it the mere smell of coffee in the airport that gets the excitement levels up or the diverse cultures that are waiting to be explored, buying a magazine or book at the airport is something I love to do. I love learning, and there is always time to learn something.
One such magazine caught my attention, not only because Bono was on the front cover, but because the title stood out like a bright light. The magazine I am referring to is “Think Big’.
The following is an excerpt from the “Interview with Bono” article which I thought was really insightful and thought provoking.
Interview with Bono
Bono: “You know I used to think the future was solid or fixed, something you inherited like an old building that you move into when the previous generation moves out or gets chased out. But it’s not. The future is not fixed, it’s fluid. You can build your own building, or hut or condo, whatever.”
“So my question I suppose is: What’s the big idea? What’s your big idea? What are you willing to spend your moral capital, your intellectual capital, your cash, your sweat equity in pursuing?”
Knowledge is the key to being taken seriously. It’s one thing to have an opinion, it’s another entirely to know exactly what the problem is and how to approach the people who matter to try and fix those problems.
“It’s not enough to rage against the lie,” he says. “You’ve got to replace it with the truth…In the end you’ve got to become the change you want to see in the world.” – Bono (Think Big, Volume 3.2)
To your success
